China Spring Cares
China Spring Cares (CSC) began in March 2013. It is located at the CSISD Annex Building (the old intermediate school). Its main goal is to provide clothing, shoes, hygiene needs, and school supplies for CSISD students grades Pre-K through 12th grade who are in need.
CSC serves the students of CSISD year round, however, there are three main events. For the months of June and July, CSC provides a bag of food each weekend for 60+ students. In August, there is a Back to School event when students come to CSC to pick up new tennis shoes, socks, underwear, and a new back pack full of school supplies. They also go “shopping” in the clothes room for new school clothes. In December, students receive gifts and may “shop” for warm clothes. All food, shoes, supplies, gifts, and clothes are donated by the community.
Our current need for clothing is for Kindergarten through 6th grade - boys and girls! If you have gently worn, clean clothes that your kids have out grown, we would love to have them. Other than athletic shorts and jeans, we DO NOT need any ADULT clothes at this time! Donations are accepted at our church office or at any school office or the administration building.
As for the specific need right now it is as follows:
We need volunteers each Wednesday, beginning on June 12th, to help pack bags with snacks, fruit, and water. The program will last 6 weeks. We will begin each Wednesday at 9am, and it takes no more than an hour.
This is a great opportunity for students to earn volunteer hours. If you would like to help prepare the bags of food, please sign up by clicking on the link below. When the slots for service are all filled up, you can still come as there is always a need to help sort clothes.
